Who We Are

Founded by Bishop Charles Masunungure, a former Commissioner in the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission, the Zimbabwe Peacebuilding Trust (ZPT) is registered under Trust Deed 924/2020. The organisation focuses on building bridges between Government and Civil Society through Diplomatic Engagements and Mediation. It also programs in Security Sector Governance (SSG).  The ZPT comprises a secretariat that is made up of women and men with qualifications and experience in SSG, Peace, Conflict and Development issues. The staff also has good understanding of research, monitoring, evaluation and learning processes in programme management. Together, we are working towards a fundamental shift in how the world deals with violent conflict: moving from reaction to prevention.

Our Stakeholders

We work with all stakeholders that include state and non-state institutions at local, district, provincial and national level. These also include constitutional commissions, other civil society actors and the communities around us. As a bridge building institution we work with the National Association of  Non Governmental Organisations (NANGO), Security Sector Oversight bodies such as Parliament, Gvt Ministries, Commissions and Security Sector Institutions themselves. We also work with the Church and Traditional Leaders. At continental and International level we collaborate with the African Union, while internationally we have working relationships with organisations such as the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) among others.
